There are more tests available during pregnancy than ever before, and navigating which of these newer tests to offer and when to offer them can be complicated. Many medical organizations have position statements that can provide guidance in this, but there can be subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) differences between them. Our goal at Genetic Support Foundation is to help summarize the guidelines put forth by these various medical organizations so that providers can review it in once place and not have to waste valuable time tracking it down.
We currently have available guidelines summaries for expanded carrier screening and cell-free DNA (aka NIPT). Some additional background regarding service delivery and reproductive genetics can also be found here.
If there are other areas relating to reproductive genetics that you would like to see summarized, contact us and let us know. We’re always looking for ways to make knowledge about guidelines surrounding genetic services more readily available!
