- Why and when does genetic testing make sense?
- How can genetic testing make a difference?
Katie Stoll, Genetic Counselor and Director of Clinical Services for the Genetic Support Foundation, and Dr. Jon Wolff are hosting an informational program on cancer and genetics at the T-Bar at 3rd and Elk in Crested Butte. They will discuss updates related to genetic testing for hereditary cancer risk and the importance of knowing your family history.
Many advances have occurred in recent years related to our understanding of cancer and genetics. An important goal of genetic counseling and genetic testing is early detection and prevention in families who may have a higher chance to develop cancer. Have you ever wondered if your history of cancer, or that of your family members, might be due to inherited factors? Have you considered if genetic testing would be helpful for you or for your relatives? Have you undergone genetic testing in the past but are curious if there have been new developments of importance for your family? Join them for an evening of tea and learning where we will consider these questions and more.
